Welcome CGN Sakura

Welcome CGN Sakura

Cologne, Germany – Sep 21st 2022 – As of today, we are finally entering a new chapter on our VALORANT journey.

We are thrilled to announce our newest VALORANT team! Over the course of several months, we have been following the growth of the Game Changers scene within VALORANT with pure excitement. The current Game Changer Series even boasted 128 teams, consisting of only female, transgender and non-binary players. One of those teams, which very closely missed the main event by placing slightly out of the top 32, was our new team - “Sakura”.

While we were thinking about the team-name, we were on campus grounds, close to the CGN office and we saw the beautiful cherry tree that grows there. The word “Sakura” is Japanese and translates to cherry blossom. The idea to connect something that grows right in front of our own headquarters with the immense interest that our community has for any kind of Japanese culture, animes and mangas, gave us the confidence that we had found the perfect name for our new Game Changers team.

After analyzing the market for many months, we decided to pick up team Fuxia Blue around team captain Jenny “Yennaefer” Baumgartl. Essential in our choice was the feedback of Marcel “Sizzer” Hauenstein, who is currently transitioning to a more diverse role, which includes coaching. In order to support his journey, he is also spending time with the CGN Main team and learning from their coaches, especially our Head Coach Navid “Kapio” Javadi.

About VALORANT

VALORANT is a fast-paced competitive & tactical first person shooter, involving two teams of 5 players each. The first team that manages to win 13 in-game rounds, wins. This means that a game of Valorant can take up to 25 rounds. Players can choose their unique in-game characters, which are called agents, at the start of the game and buy different weapons at the start of each round. When a player dies, they will not respawn until the next round starts. This makes VALORANT a game in which even the smallest decision counts: good reaction times, aiming skills and knowledge are all key elements required to master VALORANT on a competitive level.
